Garage Door Repair vs. Replacement
Fixing it is usually cheaper. Usually. Here's how to tell when it isn't.
Repair usually wins when
One part failed: a spring, a cable, a roller, a sensor. The panels are sound and the door is otherwise reliable.
Replacement starts to make sense when
Panels are cracked or rusted through, repairs keep stacking up, the door isn't insulated and you heat the garage, or the opener lacks modern safety features.
Questions to ask a provider
What exactly failed? What does the repair include? What would replacement include? Is the quote itemized? Ask for both options in writing if you're on the fence.
A note on prices
We don't set prices or publish estimates. Costs vary by door size, materials and parts, so compare written quotes.
