Garage door opener repair
Garage Door Opener Repair
Click. Click. Nothing. Openers fail in a few predictable ways: no power, a remote problem, misaligned safety sensors, a stripped drive gear, or a door that's too heavy because a spring is broken. Some of those take two minutes. One of them shouldn't be touched.
Signs you're dealing with this
- The opener hums but the door doesn't move
- The door reverses before it reaches the floor
- The wall button works but remotes don't
- The light blinks and nothing happens
- Grinding or clicking from the motor unit
Safety first. If the door is very heavy or a spring looks broken, don't use the opener to force it. Unplug the opener before touching the trolley or rail. Only use the emergency release with the door fully closed, because a door with a broken spring can drop.
When to call a pro
Drive gear, logic board and rail problems, and any opener paired with a heavy door, are jobs for a technician.
